Ok Fellow Bloggers....You can now Comment to your Heart's Content
Finally....got that little ole "comment" option up at the end of posts so you can now post your two-cents worth about my various rambles and research finds.

On a side note: Trolls are welcome to post all they want...just so they know that if they get too nasty, their chatter will be deleted. I'm all for free speech but frankly, there are some things that just don't need to be heard and there's no point for them.

Side note #2...concerning Trolls: A site I frequented (even though I didn't comment there much myself) has recently password-protected their blog so that only those she knows who has access to it. Evidently she recently got a Troll-infestation...which can be a nasty thing. I know. I've had a few that I've had to get the ole can of Delete out to get rid of them. I'm sure she felt that she had no other course than to block general public access to her blog but, to me, that seems a little drastic. Like using a machine gun to kill a fly. I have enjoyed going to her site to read the various things she had to say but, alas, I will miss going there. If you want access to her site, you have to email her to get the password. I've emailed her telling her that I'm sorry that she's had to go to these lengths and that I've really enjoyed reading her blog. However, I already have a ton of various passwords to remember. One more is likely to be the straw that breaks my memory's back. And, frankly, to have to enter a password just to read about an anonymous someone's various experiences and anecdotes in life is a little too excessive for me. There are hundreds of other blogs out there that I haven't found that may be just as enjoyable to read and I won't have to remember a password to view them.

The Friday Five
1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed?

Yep same old boring name...although it will change in the future when Larry and I go to Vegas (wink wink nudge nudge)

2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?

Well I will change my last to Skinner eventually :) I'd change my first to just the letter M. It's easier to remember and I wouldn't be called Michelle or Melinda like a million times :)

3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)

My Dad was responsible. It was a name he liked. Thank you Dad because if Mom had had her way, I'd be Bobby Jo (a combination of both their names.../shudder)

4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?

I hate Missy which is a nickname of Melissa. I don't know why I hate Missy. I just do.

5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com / triggur.org / astroexpert accurate? How or how isn't it?

Well the Kabalarians nailed it. I can be rather too independent and unwilling to accept the help of others.

Triggur's was strange. "Licker of Toads"??? Ewwwww. Don't think I have a "God Complex" and I've always thought I was a rather happy person so I doubt I bring "others down". And unfortunately I can't take penicillin for my "physical" seeing how I'm allergic to it.

I was confused by the Astroexpert one.

Do some scientists just appear to be idiots OR are they really???
I've always had an interest in natural phenomenom. From earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes...you name it. Well under this falls Volcanoes. Especially since I grew up in Iceland, which is quite an active country volcanically speaking. This is one of the reasons why I've been keeping my eyes on any information coming out concerning Yellowstone and the potential Super Volcano located there.

Well I came across these articles and after reading them all I can think is--what are these scientists thinking? Are they not getting together and comparing data?

As a layman, I'm looking at this information and thinking to myself that I need to stock up on bottled water, canned goods, formula for Megan (just in case) and dust masks. I'm also thinking that I need to at least warn my friends and family that live in Oregon and Washington so that they can get prepared. To me it looks like it's just a matter of time before she blows her top. I've always believed that it's better to be safe than sorry about something. Shouldn't main-stream media be talking about this so that we get prepared and be caught aware when/if she blows than opposed to be caught unaware and possibly ending up dead???

The Articles in Question

1. This article dated 9/7/03 by Dr. Bruce Cornet talks about signs to watch for that indicate she's about to go. Namely increased geyser activity near or on top of the rising dome.

2. This article talks about how lately geologists have been wondering what is up with the geysers in Yellowstone. Evidently Steamboat Springs, a geyser that hasn't erupted in the past 50 years or so, has recently become active again. Not to mention that there are new vents aka fumeroles opening up. Hmmm...what did the last article say to watch for?????

3. This article talks about how almost half of the trails in the Norris Geyser Basin have been closed because the ground temperatures have reached 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Okay..call me crazy but I don't think that the ground has been heated up due to an overly warm summer. Something and something MAJOR is developing in this area. what cracks me up most about this particular article is that the scientists are talking about taking current readings to help them develop a baseline model for this area since they rarely have the chance to get data like this for this particular area. Call me crazy...again...but I've always thought that a baseline model is used depict a normalcy that unknown and strange events are compared to.

I'm no geologist but what if...and I'll grant you it's a big if...what is occuring now isn't normal. That it is in fact a prelude to some rather nasty stuff. I mean if this were normal activities wouldn't we have seen it by now? Yellowstone is also way overdue in her natural explosion cycle.

This makes me think of good old Acham's Razor = all things being equal, the simplest explanation for a problem is probably the correct one.

You tell me, what is the simplest explanation for what's going on there?

The Friday Five
Been checking out a few of these friendly blog-related things and thought I'd start doing this one :)

1. What housekeeping chore(s) do you hate doing the most?

The Catbox....Larry and I fight over who gets to NOT clean it :)

2. Are there any that you like or don't mind doing?

Oddly enough I don't mind cleaning the bathroom..guess I don't mind cleaning the Peoplebox :)

3. Do you have a routine throughout the week or just clean as it's needed?

As needed.

4. Do you have any odd cleaning/housekeeping quirks or rules?

The only quirk I can think of atm is that Megan likes listening and watching me vacuum.

5. What was the last thing you cleaned?

Groan....the Catbox...
